That seems to be what is being forecast for today and tonight. The old saying, "If you don't like the weather, wait awhile and it will change," seems to be what's supposed to happen.
This morning we woke up to fog, I don't remember our weather guy calling for it. This afternoon got above freezing, but barely and it's been cloudy all day. Tonight, now that's where it's supposed to get interesting. First we're supposed to get rain, which is going to make the roads around here like, this is how Dave puts it, "slimy snot." I know, it's gross but he's a guy and before that, a boy, so what do you expect? Anyway, after that we're due for freezing rain, thrills! Thank goodness no one has to go anywhere tomorrow, because after the freezing rain, they're calling for snow, but exactly where it's supposed to fall is anyone's guess. It's supposed to be a narrow strip of moderate snow. Right now they're calling for it to be east of here, but they've said that before and we got hit, so it's anyone's guess.
Spring is in the air too. This week is supposed to be above freezing all week, even tomorrow. One day is supposed to be around 50 or so, I think I'll clean the inside of my van that day, unless it's Tuesday or Thursday. Dave will probably have to take it to work if his isn't fixed by then, which it probably won't be. I think he has to order another part for it. He got a diagnostic thing for both it and my van on Friday. It's cool, it tells you why the check engine light is on. Mine wasn't a surprise, it has to do with the fuel tank, which we have known about since before the van was paid off and supposedly had it fixed once. That was $250,00 down the drain because they never fixed it and tried to tell us that they did. I probably could have argued with them until I was blue in the face, but it wouldn't have done any good, so I just deal with it.
Right now it looks like it may be foggy again, but that can just be because the windows are steamed from the dryer being on all afternoon. Yep, it's the windows, I just got up to check.
Whenever the dryer is on, all the pups and cats want to do is sleep. Well, the cats sleep most of the day away anyway, but the pups are usually up a lot, except when the dryer is on. I guess the warm air makes them drowsy. Max is here on the couch next to me, his favorite spot. Jake is at my feet, Rolli is in their chair, and Angel is in Dave's, all snoozing away. Max looks so sweet and innocent when he's sleeping, but can be a little terror when he's awake. I guess that's why they call them terriers. Angel also gets the most innocent look on her face when she's sleeping. They all look like little angels.
Now I'm starting to feel a little drowsy, but I still have a couple more loads of laundry to do, so no snoozing for me, plus I want to see what the weather is going to do.
Who would've thought when we got married, Dave and I would be living on a small, okay, very small ranch (three acres worth) in South Central Iowa years later? Not me, that's for sure! But here we are living on our little pony ranch. We no longer have any ponies, but we used to have three, so we, okay I did, but Dave agreed, suitably named the place, "Ain't Many Acres Pony Ranch." We love it here.

YAY!!
Went to meet the tow truck guy at the mall this morning so that Dave's van could be towed all the way down here until he could work on it. The cost for the trip, $350.00. The amount we actually spent, $0. The thrill of knowing we didn't have to spend that much, priceless.
Why didn't we have to spend that much? You might be thinking that the actual cost wasn't that high. Well you would be correct on that assumption. "How much did it cost," would be your next question and the answer would be $0.
Yep, you read correctly. When we got there, Dave tried to start the van and miracles of miracles, it started. It was as if there was nothing wrong with it, so I asked him if he was going to cancel the tow truck and he hands me his phone and tells me, "Here you call, I don't have my glasses." There was one problem with that, he forgot to give me the number which was still in his hand. I tell him that and he hands me the paper with the number, so I dial the phone and hand it to him. We were lucky, they hadn't dispatched the truck yet, so we weren't charged for the tow. Needless to say we were both relieved. David and I had to pay our cell phone bills, so since there was a cell phone store in the mall, we decided to pay them there rather than waiting until we got back down near home. I even found a Columbia fleece jacket, one of the light ones at Scheels on sale that I couldn't find yesterday. Turned out, we walked right past them in the middle of the aisle. All turned out well, even the weather, which ended up sunny and close to 50.
He's going to be taking my van to work until he can get his fixed. Again, no wheels for me to drive. ☹ I hate not having a car to drive. Even though I don't drive a lot during the week, I still like having one at my disposal. If this lasts too long, I'll just have to protest or go on strike and demand something be done so I can have my car back. On second thought, I don't think that will work. I'll have to think of something else.
Oh yea, more good news, our taxes are done and we're getting a refund.

Well Shucks!
Remember the other week when I was without my van, well, Dave's van broke down this afternoon. This morning his engine check light went on for the first time since he's had the van. This afternoon for unknown reasons, it died.
Luckily I had a dental appointment up in Des Moines today at noon and we planned to meet for lunch after. I met Dave over at the one mall closest to his office when I was done. When we were leaving, he was parked not too far from me and as I was leaving, I saw him waving for me to come over to where he was. When I got there he was trying to start the van, but it wouldn't start. Luckily a mall security vehicle came by and asked us if we needed any help and Dave told him the situation and asked if it would be okay if we left the van parked there for the night. Thankfully he said it would be and all he would need is some information, so after giving him that, Dave took some stuff out and locked the van up and we left. We had to stop by his office first so that he could tell his assistant what was going on. I also needed to stop by the store on the way home, so we did that too.
We're hoping it's nothing serious otherwise we might not be able to go back east fore my niece's wedding in June. Oh and on top of this, I got the final cost for the rest of the dental work I need from the dentist who took over for the patients who were stuck after AllCare closed its Des Moines office. It's about $400 more than what it would have cost us through AllCare. But I'm more confident that the care will be better.
Anyway, let's hope that nothing serious is wrong with the van because there are still three more payments left on it and Dave doesn't want to have to get another car right now. He's looking forward to not having any more payments for awhile.

What Did I tell Ya!
Yep, Oreo was at his usual spot this morning, only his butt was facing elsewhere, so he was safe from being moved or accidentally pushed off the bed. Yesterday I was getting some nasty looks from him all day. When we were sitting here watching TV, he was sitting at the end of Dave's chair staring at me with one of those "if looks could kill" looks. Wait a minute, that's his usual look.
I do swear at times though, he thinks he's one of the dogs, he hangs out where they do, he sleeps where they sleep, and he's not afraid of Max; in fact Max leaves him alone, unlike the other three who he likes to scare.
Like a lot of cats, he loves his catnip. We call him our catnip junkie because he will literally beg one of us to give him some and he will follow us wherever we go as long as we have that bag in our hand. He has a special rug, an old bathroom mat, we sprinkle it on. He will roll in it, eat it, and basicly act like he's in kittie heaven because of it. The other three do it too, but their more suttle about it. Oreo doesn't care who sees him.
He is one strange cat, well maybe not, but our last tuxedo Velcro didn't act like him. Velcro acted more like Peanut. Oreo I guess, acts like a lot of cats, wanting to be around you on his terms. The other three are the same way, but again being more suttle about it. Maybe they're like that because they're girls.

Decisions, Decisions
For those who may have seen my blog titled, "It's raining cats and dogs," I have decided to close it due to lack of viewers. I will continue to update you all on how the pups and kitties are doing on this blog.
Speaking of kitties, this morning Oreo was sleeping next to my head with his butt very close to my face, so I tried to move him over. I didn't realize that he was so close to the edge of the bed and he fell off. Don't worry, he's fine but a little ticked off at me right now. You know how cats give you that evil look, well that's the look I got after it happened. I did apologize, but I don't think he was buying it. I'm sure though that he'll be back in the same spot or close to it tomorrow morning.
Right now he's laying in the middle of the bed looking as if he owns it. If he were a big cat, I'd be kind of worried about getting back in it tonight. Hmmm, maybe I should be worried anyway.

The Weather Outside is...well, Beautiful
I'm loving it; it feels like spring out there. The sun is shining and the snow is melting, in fact it's pretty much gone.
I know the dogs are loving it, especially Rolli and Max. Rolli likes to sit out on the patio and watch things go by. Max likes being out there with her to torment her and to generally be a pesky little brother. He plays that role very well. Yesterday he and she wanted in and out all day. Max had to have his paws washed off because he decided to dig in the mud. He definitely didn't like that. You would think that he would be used to it, as many times as he's had it done.
Max loves to dig, but so does Rolli. It's funny watching the two of them, Sometimes the holes are so deep, all you see are their butts sticking up in the air. But it's what comes after that they don't like. If they're dirty enough, they'll get a full fledged bath and your's truly gets to do it.
As with most dogs, ours get us as wet if not wetter when we, I mean I, give them baths. It's not the bath itself, but the shaking afterwards. They are really good in the tub, standing there while I wash them, but once they're out, all bets are off. Every surface is game to get wet, they take no prisoners. I guess it's their revenge. They probably tell themselves that if they get baths, they're not going to be the only ones to get wet. It's the same when they come in from outside when it's raining. They hate going out when it rains. And guess what, it's supposed to rain this weekend. I think I'll wear a raincoat if I'm the one who lets them in.

Happy Valentine's Day
Happy Valentine's Day to everyone. Not too much going on here today, I'm doing laundry.Sounds thrilling, doesn't it? Dave got me the cutest card and put it in my laptop so that I would see it when I opened it up this morning.
I forgot to get him one, but I did get him a new cell phone. I got him a Tracfone with double the minutes each time you add minutes to it. He's not into surfing the web on his phone, so that's why I got him that one.
We're not real big on celebrating Valentine's Day anyway because our anniversary is only 11 days later. This year will be 33 years for us. We're planning on going out to a nice dinner and possibly a movie, if anything decent is playing. Later when the weather warms up a little, we're planning on going down to Kansas City again to see Kenneth and Elicia and doing some more antiquing. I also found out that there are two Habitat ReStores I didn't know about last time that we want to check out. This time too, we will be the ones picking out the hotel, so we'll make sure to get one in a decent part of town.
Well, the laundry will not do itself, so I must move along. Again, I hope everyone has a nice Valentine's Day.

I'm Back In the Driver's Seat
Dave got the new brakes put on the van, so I am back in the driver's seat. I took it for a test drive after and it felt great, no loud noise which means no more embarrassment. I hated driving it before with the noise it made. maybe I'll celebrate next week by getting it washed and cleaning the inside. It definitely needs it.
I Love My Shrink
I had an appointment with my shrink yesterday, it was nothing serious, I see him every four months for follow ups and to make sure that my medication is still doing its thing.
My shrink is Indian, so it's sometimes hard to understand him, but he genuinely seems to care, unlike the last shrink I used to see. Yesterday he noticed that I had lost weight, which always puts me in a good mood. We even talked about the Super Bowl and how I was bummed that the Steelers lost.
With my last shrink, he was always at least 45 minutes late for appointments, even our very first one. One time I even told him that it was a waste of my time to have to sit in the waiting room that long. He didn't even apologize, but instead made it sound as if my time wasn't important. I do feel bad at the fact that he was killed in an accident a few years ago, but the truth is, he was a lousy shrink.
That's how I came to my present shrink, all of the other shrink's patients were referred to him. He used to drive here from Omaha, but now he telecommutes with his patients here. He's a lot happier and I'm sure, so is his wife. Apparently she didn't want to move to Des Moines. I can't say that I blame her. Yesterday was the first time since I've been seeing him that he was running late, but it was nowhere near the 45 minutes the other one always was.
But isn't modern technology wonderful, I mean, for the most part?

I'm in a Fugly Mood
Well, things are almost back to normal after the disappointment at the outcome of the Super Bowl. But the Steelers will be back, that I am sure of.
The loss wasn't the only disappointing thing that happened this week. I am without a car. My back passenger side brake was making such a terrible noise, I knew I couldn't wait any longer to have it replaced, so that is what Dave has been working on. He had to order new parts which should be here tomorrow. He did replace the back driver's side one. Oh yeah, he decided against buying a new car at this time (bummer), which I think would have been a better option. I could have gotten one more fuel efficient. Oh well, maybe this summer after his is paid off.
I can understand why he doesn't want to buy a new car, the payments mainly. My van has been paid off for close to, if not, two years now. It's been nice having the extra money in the account. I know, I'm being selfish wanting a new car. I will have to make this one last, which except for the brakes and having a gas tank that keeps spitting out gas when you're pumping it if you don't do it just right, it's been doing pretty good. So I should be satisfied. I was the one who wanted a minivan to begin with.
Oh well, I guess I'm in a fugly mood right now. What I need to do is get up off of my butt and get moving. If it weren't so cold, near zero, I'd go out for walk. I do have plenty to keep me busy here in the house though. The problem is that it's here in the house. I think my mood is because I'm stuck here in the house and there are things I have to get done up in Des Moines and I can't because I don't have a car to get there. I hate being without a car and thinking that I was almost able to get a new one, has me frustrated. You know how it is, I'll get over it.

Congratulations Greenbay
You played a great game. You outplayed my team, you deserved to win.
While I am sad that the Steelers lost, I am no less proud of them than if they had won. I am looking forward to next season. This Super Bowl will go down in the books as one exciting game.
Again, congratulations
A Diehard Steeler fan

GO STEELERS!!!
The flags outside are flying high and proud. When anyone drives past, there is no doubt who the favorite team is in this house. This little part of Iowa is part of the Steeler Nation.
Others may balk but there is no doubt in my mind who the best fans in the nation are, Steeler fans! And whether we're at the game itself or at home watching it on TV, or even if we don't, we will be cheering them on. Whether we are from the "Burgh" or not, we bleed Black and Gold.
Tonight's Super Bowl will be the Steeler's eighth and they are going after their seventh win. They will be Knock, Knock, Knocking on Seven's Door! And whether in person or spirit, we Steeler fans will be there right beside them, climbing that Stairway to Seven.

Insomnia, or I Guess I had More Important Things to Do
I hate when I have insomnia. Thankfully it doesn't happen often, but when it does, like last night, it's literally a real pain.
I mean it too, it's a real pain, literally, in that I do tend to feel aches and pains from being uncomfortable, which I was, thanks to Angel and Max. They both sleep at the end of the bed, but Max sleeps in between Dave and I and sometimes uses my legs as a pillow, so I have no room to stretch out and get comfortable.
Also, Dave's snoring, I just realized last night that he sometimes sounds like a cow. It's funny, but he really does. It's amazing that I never noticed before, but it's probably also like I said before, I don't get insomnia that often.
Another thing, if you suffer from insomnia on occasion, isn't it funny the things that run through your mind? Last night I was thinking about how to figure out the Weight Watcher points on a pumpkin bread mix because Dave substituted apple sauce for the oil; I figured it out. I was also thinking of what new ring tones I can attach to different people on my new cell phone so I'll know that it's them who's calling. I figured out which one for Dave, but not for David or Kenneth. I'll have to see what they have available. Being on a prepaid plan, I don't have as many available as I would on a regular plan. I think I mentioned that once before in another post.
Another thing I was thinking about is getting a new car, what kind I would get and what it would have. Dave mentioned maybe having to buy a new one if my brakes keep wearing out the way they have been. I literally lost one of the brake pads in the back. I found it in the driveway yesterday when I was about to leave to get David from work. They needed replaced before that happened. I promptly called Dave at work and asked him if he would pick David up on his way home from work. I wasn't going to drive the van after that. There are also a few other less serious problems with it, one which we paid $250 to have fixed a few years ago only to discover that the same problem still existed even though the dealership claimed that it didn't. We wouldn't go back to them.
Let's see, if we bought a new car, it would have to get decent mileage yet have enough room to fit four dogs and one more adult, in other words, have two back seats, like my van. I guess I can think about it some more until the time does come to get a new one.
Now that I've been out of bed for a couple hours, I feel like I can go back to sleep. I predict a nap in the near future, very near.
